Peruvian Cardinal Pedro Barreto on Thursday affirmed that the time has come to bring a new way of doing politics, seeking the common good of all.
Upon his arrival at the Government Palace, Barreto stressed the need to seek paths of hope in the midst of the difficulties the country is facing and, above all, to transform politics and the economy.
"We need to search for new paths that include everyone, amid this very complex crisis that we are facing. We are all Peruvians, and we must care for those who are in the countryside, the Amazon, on the outskirts of cities," he said instatements to the press, joined by former Foreign Minister Oscar Maurtua.
"The time has come to bring a new way of doing politics, seeking the common good of all," the religious remarked.
"The proposal involves a change of path; a path that leads to national unity, in which he (
President Pedro Castillo) is the President of all Peruvians," the leading dignitary of the Roman Catholic Church told RPP.
Barreto pointed out that he informed the President about this initiative during the meeting they held at the Government Palace.
