As part of its 2023 circumnavigation voyage, BAP Union training ship on Saturday arrived at the port of Piraeus, in Greece, amid an auspicious reception from local authorities, as well as locals and the media.

The arrival ceremony —led by Peruvian Ambassador Javier Yepez— was attended by high-ranking municipal, naval, and port authorities.

It was accompanied by the musical and artistic rhythm of the Hellenic Navy Band, the Piraeus Philharmonic Orchestra, and traditional Greek dances.

At a press conference co-chaired by Ambassador Yepez and the BAP Union Commander Jose Arce, the relevance of this first visit to Greece was highlighted, as were the convergences of our countries since they have a rich maritime tradition and ancient cultural heritage.

During this first day, Peruvian cadets visited the Hellenic Naval Academy, paying honors to Hellenic naval hero Konstantinos Kanaris.

Afterwards, they headed to Athens to tour the Acropolis archaeological complex and its Museum, on guided tours that aroused the crew’s interest.

At the same time, the ship received several visits from locals, who were able to see the BAP Union's unbeatable facilities, as well as the cultural and product exhibition at Casa Peru (Peru Home).

Finally, late in the afternoon, a reception was held on deck to promote Peruvian cuisine and flagship drink, Pisco, aimed at a specialized audience and local business people.

The event, which was led by restaurant and cocktail professionals, featured live music, performed by experienced national artists residing in the country.
