Career diplomat Carlos Daniel Chavez-Taffur presented his letters of credence to President Rodrigo Paz as Peru's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bolivia.

The ceremony took place at the Government Palace in La Paz, the Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry reported.

Following the presentation, Bolivia's Head of State held a meeting with Ambassador Chavez-Taffur.

He conveyed greetings from the government of Peru and reaffirmed the willingness to strengthen bilateral ties through political dialogue and cooperation.

The diplomat underscored that Peru welcomes the resumption of ambassadorial representation in the brother country of Bolivia after three years.

Furthermore, he highlighted that the Presidential Meeting and the 7th Binational Cabinet will be held in Lima next March—the main political mechanism that will reaffirm the positive momentum of bilateral relations.

In turn, President Paz expressed his fullest support for the Peruvian Embassy and wished the new ambassador every success in his duties.

Lastly, the Peruvian envoy underscored that the upcoming commemoration of the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between both countries in 2026 represents an opportunity to project a renewed agenda of political, economic, and cultural cooperation.
