Peruvian Ambassador to Romania Felix Denegri Boza has met with the Secretary of State, Head of the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU) at the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Raed Arafat.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss issues related to risk management of disasters, within the framework of the efforts made by Peru in order to be prepared for an eventual emergency.

During the gathering, both authorities referred to the latent danger posed by natural disasters and the need to have entities prepared to confront them quickly and efficiently.

This is particularly relevant for Peru, which is exposed to various natural hazards such as El Niño phenomenon, cold weather, epidemics and earthquakes, among others.

Faced with this multi-hazard situation, Peru has been carrying out works to raise the level of preparation of the responsible state-run entities during a national emergency.

Within this context, the Peruvian Ambassador and the Romanian Secretary of State agreed on the need to promote the activation of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the DSU and the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci).

The aim is to strengthen cooperation capacities between the two entities, which could result in important support in the face of a major crisis.
