General Commander of the Peruvian Air Force, Air General Rodolfo Pereyra Cuneo has met with the Commander of the 12th Air Force - Air Forces Southern (AFSOUTH) —the Air Force component to U.S. Southern Command— Major General Barry R. Cornish.

During the virtual meeting —held on Tuesday— they discussed the objectives of the Peruvian Commander, the strategic goals of the U.S. Southern Command, the objectives of the 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern), the West Virginia State Partnership Program, and future security cooperation activities between the two countries' Air Forces.

The key topics of conversation were the impacts of COVID-19 on Peru and on the Peruvian Air Force (FAP), as well as future engagements: virtual meetings, exchange of experts in specific areas, training exercises, and the visit of the Peruvian Air Attaché to the U.S.

The meetings of leaders are key to continue strengthening the partnership between the United States and Peru so as to advance their mutual interests, not only in the air, space, and cyberspace, but as friends and neighbors united by the values they share, geography, history, and a shared interest in the common future.

The modest investment in the Hemisphere —in presence, partnerships, and professionalism— delivers significant results.

The meetings of key leaders, exercises, training, education, and security cooperation contribute to building ties and confidence.

AFSOUTH seeks to explore the unique advantages of Peru and adapt programs, security cooperation, training, exercises, and contacts to remain among the preferred partners.
