The Peruvian Government —through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs— has welcomed the designation of Benjamin Netanyahu as Prime Minister of Israel.

"The Government of Peru salutes the new Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, for the start of his administration," the Ministry said via its official Twitter account.

The government agency noted that Peru shows its willingness to continue strengthening the bilateral relationship and cooperation between both countries following the appointment of Netanyahu.

Netanyahu and his Cabinet members were sworn in on December 29, in what will be his sixth term as Israel's Prime Minister.

73-year-old Netanyahu is the Prime Minister with most years in office: 3 years between 1996-1999 and 12 years between 2009-2021.

The head of Israel's Ministerial Cabinet has indicated that the fundamental priorities for his new administration will be to contain Iran's nuclear threat and seal peace with more Arab countries in the region.
