The Peruvian volleyball team obtained its ticket to participate in Women's World Cup 2015 to be held in Japan on August 22 to September 6.

This was possible after Peru achieved three consecutive victories and suffered one loss in the Women's World Cup Qualification tournament held in Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina on June 5-7, 2015. Thus, qualified South American teams are Argentina and Peru.

Peru’s last participation in Volleyball World Tournament occurred in 2007.  However, this will be its 9th time at such mega-sports event.

On this occasion, the team will be led by coach Mauro Marasciulo, who included many powerful players in the team, such as Angela Leyva. She was declared the Best Opposite in the Girls' U18 World Championship in 2013.

"This ticket [to participate] in the World Cup is very important; we know it will be a very demanding competition with very experienced groups and our team is very young.  However, we face the adversities courageously. The girls are very united and this is essential for me,” he told reporters

“We are very pleased because this work is leading to results [...]," Marasciulo added.

Peru will face 11 of the most powerful volleyball teams in the world. The ones standing out are Japan, the host of the championship; United States, current World Champion; China and South Korea representing Asia; Russia and Serbia in Europe, among others.
