Peru to host FIFA U-17 World Cup 2021

12:19 | Shanghai (China), Oct. 24.

The FIFA Council —convened in the Chinese city of Shanghai— has chosen Peru as the host of the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2021.

"In 2021, we will enjoy the U-17 World Cup in Peru as the venue," the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) said on Twitter.

On its part, the Peruvian Soccer Federation (FPF) reported it had nominated the Inca country for this important sport event, which "will be the cherry on the cake in the year commemorating the independence bicentennial of the Republic."

The venues proposed by the FPF are Lima, Trujillo, Chiclayo, Piura, Moquegua, and Tacna.

According to FPF, FIFA chose Peru as the host because of the governmental guarantees presented by President Martin Vizcarra and the important management carried out by the federation.

Thus, the Inca country will host the FIFA U-17 World Cup for the second time since 2005.

Meanwhile, the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup will take place in Brazil on October 26-November 17.
