Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Peru showed its support for the resolution by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) that proclaimed June 24 of each year as International Day of Women in Diplomacy.

"We recognize the important contribution of women in diplomacy, especially Peruvian female diplomats, who work in favor of sustainable development, democracy, and peace," the government agency expressed on Twitter.

In this sense, Peru reaffirmed its commitment to the empowerment of women and girls for their effective participation in every sphere of politics and diplomacy.

The UN General Assembly has proclaimed the International Day of Women in Diplomacy. Within this framework, it adopted a resolution which reaffirms that the participation of women, on equal terms with men at all levels of decision-making, is essential for the achievement of sustainable development, peace, and democracy.

Via document A/76/L.66, the Assembly invited all Member States and UN organizations to observe this day in ways that each one deems most appropriate, including through education and public awareness.

"We must all do everything possible to ensure women are at the table, our voices heard, and our contributions valued," she stressed.
