managed to conquer the palate of British buyers thanks to the Virtual Trade Mission developed for the United Kingdom —which focused on processed frozen/canned fruits and vegetables— closing deals for US$2 million, the
This event saw the participation of six British buyers and eight Peruvian exporters of processed foods, representing the regions of Piura, Lambayeque, and Lima.
Mission members held a total of 26 meetings. Among the most demanded products were mangoes, strawberries, blueberries, and avocados.
In less than three weeks, commitments to purchase canned fruits were generated for a total of US$500,000 for the remainder of 2021, and US$1.5 million for 2022.
"The importance of this activity lies in the creation of new businesses, helping to position and expand the presence of Peru's exportable value-added offer in a market which is not part of the European Union, thus providing greater opportunities to fellow entrepreneurs abroad," said Ricardo Romero, economic advisor to PromPeru's Trade Office in the UK.
The effort is part of a series of virtual missions by developed by PromPeru through its Trade Office in the UK since 2020. To date, it has included different sectors such as fish food, baby clothes, cereals, and processed foods, among others.
