Peru signs MOU with Office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

A Memorandum of Understanding on a Work Plan between Peru and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights was signed in Geneva on Monday.

The event saw the presence of Christian Salazar Volkmann, Director of the Field Operations and Technical Cooperation Division at the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Ambassador Luis Chuquihuara, Permanent Representative of Peru to the UN Office in Geneva. 

It was also attended by Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi as witness of honor.


The agreement details the priority areas of cooperation for capacity building in terms of human rights with various institutions in Peru, on issues such as gender equality, rights of indigenous peoples, and fight against racial discrimination, among others.
