The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) affirmed that, thanks to the support of the Republic of Korea, Peru will seek to implement a digital tool that would allow national exporting companies to take advantage of the trade agreements signed by Peru in the best possible way.

This tool will ease the documentary record at all the stages of the production of goods exported from our country to our trading partners, thus showing the traceability of their origin.

This is great news, mainly for Peruvian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as it will reduce time and costs.

Deputy Foreign Trade Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi affirmed that this is one of the results achieved at the meetings between Mincetur officials and their Korean counterparts.

These meetings included the "High-level Dialogue on Policies of Origin" and the "Final Reporting Workshop of the project for the Traceability of Production Processes and Verification of Origin."

Said meetings were held within the framework of the 2021-2022 Knowledge Sharing Program organized and financed by the Republic of Korea.

"With this project, Korea will provide Peru with the inputs to implement a digital tool that would allow us to optimize the response capacity of Peruvian SMEs when conducting a verification of origin," the deputy minister explained.

"This exchange of experience with Korean officials has been very useful, as it will allow our country to provide national exporters with more tools to make foreign trade easier. Thus, we will get the most out of the existing trade agreements," she remarked.

The meeting was held at the Mincetur headquarters and saw the participation of His Excellency Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Peru, Yungjoon Jo; the project's manager and specialist at Korea Development Institute, Hokyung Bang; the head of the Korea Institute of Origin Information, Byong Jin Park; and the project's senior advisor, Mookyung Jung.
