Peru, El Salvador sign intellectual property agreement

19:37 | Lima, Oct. 12.

Peru’s National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) and El Salvador’s National Center of Registries (CNR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The agreement bears the signatures of Indecopi Chairman Ivo Gagliuffi and CNR Executive Director Rogelio Canales.

The authorities’ first approach to reaching this deal took place during the 58th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) held in Geneva, Switzerland.

Under this agreement, both institutions will implement policies to promote and respect intellectual property for the benefit of Peruvian and Salvadoran creators, as well as inventors.

Additionally, they will carry out training sessions on patent application aimed at professionals from both entities.

The memorandum will also facilitate inter-institutional cooperation and technology transfer with the purpose of enabling international searches and the improvement of databases.

Likewise, both institutions are committed to exchanging information on legislative matters and administrative rulings issued in accordance with the legal system of each country.

WIPO Assemblies
