Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Hector Bejar has held a meeting with
Russian Federation Ambassador to Peru Igor V. Romanchenko, in which they reaffirmed their interest in continuing to boost the bilateral relationship.
In addition, the two authorities placed special emphasis on the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting took place on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Peruvian capital Lima.
"Foreign Affairs Minister Bejar had an audience with
Russian Ambassador Igor V. Romanchenko, in which they reaffirmed the mutual interest of further enhancing the high level of bilateral relations, placing special emphasis on the support for actions taken to tackle COVID-19," reads a post on the ministry's official Twitter account.
After reviewing the agenda between the two countries, both Bejar and the representative of the Russian Federation agreed to revive the bilateral relationship by convening the Political Consultation Mechanism.
Additionally, the head of the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with Ambassadors of China (
Liang Yu) and Chile (
Andres Barbe).
The meeting with Liang Yu addressed the bilateral agenda, and the diplomats agreed on increasing the cooperation to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and the acquisition of vaccines.
On the other hand, Bejar and his Chilean counterpart discussed the possibility of convening a Meeting of South American Foreign Affairs Ministers in Lima to adopt agreements and joint actions with the aim of combatting COVID-19.
