The Government of Peru on Sunday reaffirmed its commitment to continue fighting drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking on the occasion of the international day against this social scourge.
On 26 June every year, the
United Nations (UN) commemorates action and cooperation in achieving the goal of a world free of drug abuse.
In this regard, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that it promotes the strengthening of cooperation with the main governments and organizations committed to this effort.
Actions are taken based on the principle of common and shared responsibility, which enables a better, timely, and more efficient response to the world drug problem.
"On this important day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs joins this commemoration, reiterating Peru's commitment to continue deploying its best efforts to address —in a joint and coordinated manner— the challenges and threats posed by said issues, within the framework of multilateralism, international cooperation, and respect for human rights," the government department said in a statement.
