"Peru Regions: Central and Northern Highland" fair will lead to business expectations valued at over S/.1.00 million (about US$290,000), National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) Chairman Jorge Jochamowitz projected.

"We would like to exceed S/.1 million in sales during the one-day fair. We hope trading volume will double or triple after the event," he told.

Every edition of Peru Regions allows domestic tourism to expand between 4% and 5% in the advertised cities.

Jochamowitz also highlighted efforts by Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) to hold a total of five editions aimed at publicizing the country's tourist destinations.

Carnivals taking place in Ayacucho, Huanuco and Cajamarca regions next February will be promoted as festive attractions before tour operators and general public, he noted.

"We hope to trade tourism-products in the best possible way. The said fair will see the participation of approximately 30 speakers, so there will be a wide variety of offers for low-season and at good prices," he concluded.
