Peru was re-elected as a member of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Council for the 2023-2024 term, thanks to its continuous defense and promotion of the environment, as well as to the fight against climate change.

The GGGI is an international intergovernmental organization that aims to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing and emerging countries.

Similarly, it integrates objectives such as poverty reduction, creation of opportunities and social development with environmental objectives, such as the sustainability of energy sources and potable water, food security, and climate change mitigation.

The election of Peru —the diplomatic mission stressed— constitutes an important recognition of the effort and the great progress that the South American country has been making towards a green growth model, based on social inclusion and environmental sustainability.

Also, it involves close collaboration with the GGGI and the issuance of sustainable development bonds, which has contributed to positing Peru as a leading country in environmental issues.
