As part of exports promotion efforts, the Inca nation recently participated in THAIFEX – World of Food Asia 2017, Southeast Asia's leading trade exhibition for food and beverages, as well as food technology and retail.
Peru's presence in the
event —held from May 31 to June 4— was organized by the Peruvian Embassy in Thailand, in concert with the Association of Peruvian Exporters (ADEX) and Peru's Trade Office in Jakarta (OCEX Jakarta).
Peruvian highlights
Inspired in the "Superfoods Peru" campaign, the national stand featured seven Peruvian exporting companies.
Star products were quinoa, chia seeds, maca powder, purple corn extract and cacao.
Customers were also interested in national table grapes and giant squids, which already comprise two of Peru's main exports to the Thai market.
This way, the fair proved yet another opportunity to promote Peruvian superfoods, nutrient-rich products becoming increasingly popular in Asian markets.
The event also included business meetings between Peruvian exporters and Thai importers, thus favoring the interests of national companies.
In addition, Peru got the chance to promote Expoalimentaria food fair to be held in Lima on September 27-29.
THAIFEX – World of Food Asia is organized every year by Thailand's Chamber and Ministry of Commerce.
