Peru promotes 31 areas for oil and gas exploration among U.S. investors

14:58 | Houston (U.S.), May. 1.

State-run company Perupetro promotes 31 areas for potential exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in Peru among investors at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2023 held in Houston (U.S.) between May 1 and 4.

Said 31 areas are located in the Marañon, Ucayali, Madre de Dios, Tumbes and Salaverry basins.

Peru has 18 sedimentary basins, of which only five have been explored or semi-explored, which reveals the need to promote exploration in the country.

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2023 brings together global energy professionals, world leaders, CEOs, and government officials from around the world, who will share their insights on technological advances, safety, and environmentally focused solutions, as well as economic and regulatory impacts of the offshore energy sector.

Perupetro representatives will hold meetings with the world's major oil companies that have shown interest in exploration areas, especially in the Peruvian offshore.

Currently, U.S. energy company Anadarko has entered into the second period of the exploration phase of the concession contracts for blocks Z-61, Z-62 and Z-63, located in the Trujillo Basin.

Perupetro has an exhibition stall, in which technical information on offshore basins with hydrocarbon potential is provided.

Moreover, visitors to the stall are informed about how to invest in Peru, how to access the geoportal and database, among other things.

Perupetro continues its role to promote greater investments for the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons, thus allowing the discovery of new reserves to ensure energy security in the country.
