Peru: President Vizcarra's approval stands at 58%

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra's approval rate stands at 58% in February, the latest Ipsos poll has revealed.

According to the survey —published by El Comercio newspaper— the rating slid from 63% in January to 58% this month. 

Northern and southern Peru —the areas recently affected by heavy rains and landslides— register the highest disapproval percentages. 

On the other hand, the fight against corruption is still a relevant factor in the approval of the Head of State. 

Thus, 52% of respondents note the top official currently combats this scourge, a 12% increase compared to October last year.

Furthermore, 24% of Peruvians affirm the President is fighting citizen insecurity, 24% believe he has good ideas and plans, 19% think he is working to improve education, while 18% underline his efforts to reconstruct the areas affected by natural disasters
