Peru President virtually meets with South American counterparts

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday held a video conference with his peers from the region.

The virtual event was also attended by Presidents Ivan Duque (Colombia), Sebastian Piñera (Chile), Luis Lacalle Pou (Uruguay), and Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary-General Luis Almagro.

The leaders addressed the challenges and actions developed in South America to confront the covid-19 pandemic.

The event took place within the framework of a mandatory social isolation imposed to prevent the covid-19 from further spreading in the South American country.

Initially set to last from March 16 to 30, the social isolation measure has been extended until May 24.

Thursday marks the sixty-seventh day of mandatory social isolation in Peru.
