Peru President: Success based on consensus

15:00 | Lima, Dec. 13.

President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday affirmed the Inca country's success must be based on consensus with diverse sectors in order to achieve development.

Thus, it is important that the business community, State, and academy interact with one another.

"If we do not join efforts, then we simply hinder ourselves," the Head of State expressed.

Likewise, he indicated Peru must improve in various domains since —over the last eight years— it slid positions in the competitiveness ranking.

"If we want to be competitive, the academy, private businesses, and the State must work articulately," the top official said.

"That is why I am here, with the purpose of committing to working together (and) to making commitments," he added.

President Vizcarra indicated that —in the same way everyone currently agrees on defeating corruption— efforts must be undertaken to create sources of employment, as well as to achieve progress and development aimed at improving Peruvians' quality of life.

In this sense, the Head of State pointed out all the Inca country's sectors have great potential. However, highly-skilled personnel is needed in this extremely-competitive and global market.

Remarks were made during the National Service for Industrial Training's (Senati) 57th anniversary.
