The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Wednesday emphasized her administration's will to continue providing the Armed Forces with the necessary means so that they can meet the needs of the population.

"We will continue advancing to be able to provide all the necessary logistics, not only to the (Peruvian) Air Force (FAP), but to the other two institutions of the Armed Forces and to the National Police, so that they are at the service of Peruvians," she expressed.

Mrs. Boluarte participated in a ceremony held at Lima-based Las Palmas Air Base, at which a Twin Otter transport aircraft repowered by the FAP was returned to operation.

The Head of State announced that said plane "will promptly and efficiently handle air medical transport to and from remote areas of our territory."

"This way we can save more lives," she noted.

The top official indicated that the aircraft will be destined for Peru's northern zone, and "it will provide support on the multiple occasions on which the country is hit" by El Niño phenomenon or other disasters.

"Soon, we will have another similar aircraft, recovered, for air transportation needs in the south," said Mrs. Boluarte, who congratulated the technicians from the military entities that participate in this repowering effort.

Successful recovery

Regarding the aircraft presented today, the president mentioned that it completed its last mission in June 2017.

It was in 2022 that the FAP decided to repower the aircraft, "using its (FAP's) own budget and avoiding generating any additional expenses for the Peruvian State."

The president also called for unity in Peru.

"Restoring peace in our homeland generates unity in all of us. Only with unity and peace can we seek development," she stated.
