Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Friday inspected the archaeological rescue works on the Lomas de Ilo Agricultural Frontier Expansion Project, which is aimed at supplying water systems for the irrigation of drylands and incorporate them into Moquegua region's agricultural, as well as economic activities.
The Head of State also said that his administration enhances and creates the public tourist infrastructure of Cerro Baul Archaeological Site in the district of Torata (Moquegua) to boost and optimize visits to this site, which dates back to the pre-Inca era. The area used to serve as an enclave in the Huari culture.
"We guarantee the financing of the second stage of Cerro Baul Archaeological Site. We have to strengthen and enhance the value of our cultural wealth, providing better access that promotes the study
and greater tourism (flows)," he expressed in this sense.
On the occasion, the President was joined by Culture Minister Sonia Guillen, as well as local and regional authorities.
