Peru President, OAS Secretary-General meet in Lima

10:04 | Lima, Feb. 9.

Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary-General Luis Almagro is meeting with President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski in Lima as part of an official visit he is paying to Peru.

Upon his arrival at Lima-based Government Palace, Almagro was welcomed by President Kuczynski and Foreign Affairs Minister Cayetana Aljovin.

After walking through the palace's Golden Hall, the authorities entered a room to hold a private audience.

The OAS Secretary-General is also scheduled to meet with Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Cayetana Aljovin at Lima's Torre Tagle Palace.

According to the Peruvian ministry, they will hold a press conference after their gathering.

Almagro's visit occurs at a moment when representatives of the region's governments undertake negotiations in Lima in order to determine the anti-corruption commitments the heads of state and government will adopt at the 8th Summit of the Americas on April 13-14.

These talks are held within the framework of the Summit Implementation Review Group (SIRG) —the core management body of the Summits Process comprised of government officials of the hemisphere's countries.
