The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Sunday led the launching ceremony for the "Guano from the Islands for Family Farming 2022 Campaign" on Isla Pescadores (Fishermen Island) in Lima's Ancon district.

The Head of State said Peru is a country which relies on many resources that in previous years had been exploited but handed over to the most powerful people.

"We have come to give them to those most in need," he expressed.

From the Government —the top official stressed— efforts will be undertaken so that resources, such as guano from the islands and its benefits, reach out to the most remote areas.

"I call on farmers to organize themselves and attend the ministry's call," he said.

According to Mr. Castillo, whenever the State wants to get closer to farmers, "there are cheaters who take advantage of the efforts done by workers." Thus, it appropriate to get organized.

In the same way —he said— efforts will be undertaken to guarantee the market for farmers.

"Today, we are rescuing the country's resources for all Peruvians; we are rescuing the island's guano for our fellow farmers within the framework of the Second Agrarian Reform plan," he added.
