The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo met with Lambayeque Region Governor Luis Diaz, as well as mayors from that northern region, with whom he addressed the problems faced by citizens of the country’s northern area.

They also agreed to undertake joint efforts for the benefit of citizens.

The Head of State listened to Diaz's presentation on the importance —for Lambayeque— of the implementation of La Calzada Dam —a project that will serve to provide water for consumption by the population, farming purposes, as well as for reducing the risk of flooding in urban and rural areas.

According to the governor, the project will be launched through a technical work roundtable to be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, the Olmos Tinajones Special Project (PEOT), as well as engineers, architects, and technicians from Lambayeque Regional Directorate of Agriculture, among others.

Mayors of the different districts in Lambayeque region, leaders of La Leche Valley Defense Front, and Congress members representing the region also participated in the meeting. They supported the implementation of the aforementioned dam because of the impact it will have on that area of the country.

During the meeting, the governor also told the Head of State that he is managing the budgets for hospitals in Ferreñafe province (about US$37.5 million) and Motupe district (about US$30 million).

After listening to the proposals by Lambayeque authorities, President Castillo expressed his support for the projects aimed at benefiting the people.

The meeting was held this week at the Government Palace in Lima.
