Peru: President highlights importance of consolidating alliance with business sector

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo underlined the importance of strengthening an alliance with the business community, thus guaranteeing people's well-being.

The Peruvian Head of State held a meeting with Mexico's Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard and Mexican investors at the Government Palace in Lima on Wednesday night.

Within this framework, the top official highlighted the importance of businesspeople —by drawing investments.

"Governments cannot do it alone if we don't make an alliance with businesspersons, with you (...) have the space, through our ministries, to contribute to the national space," he expressed during the event.

Similarly, the dignitary called on Peruvian State Ministers to open the doors to businesspeople so as to work and "do things well" in favor of citizens.

Moreover, the President stressed that in the face of adverse situations, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, unity is necessary to leave this severe situation behind through joint efforts undertaken by public and private sectors.

At this meeting, Mr. Castillo also underlined the historical relations that unite the peoples of Peru and Mexico. Thus, he urged (stakeholders) to continue strengthening these ties, finding various spaces that serve to promote the development of both peoples.

The event also saw the presence of Peruvian Ministers Oscar Graham (Economy-Finance), Cesar Landa (Foreign Affairs), Alessandra Herrera (Energy-Mines), and Roberto Sanchez (Foreign Trade-Tourism).
