Peru: President, governors address fight against COVID-19 and decentralization

Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti and Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Friday led a coordination meeting with regional governors at the Government Palace in Lima.

At the meeting, they addressed topics such as the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic; the economic reactivation; and decentralization.

Previously, President Sagasti met with members of the Electoral Observation Mission of the Organization of American States (OAS), who arrived in Lima this week.

Earlier today, the Head of State participated in the 27th APEC Summit, which —for the first time— was held in a virtual format to host the leaders of the 21 Asia-Pacific economies.

Within this framework, the top official highlighted the importance of promoting quality growth in the Asia-Pacific region —one that is balanced, inclusive, sustainable, innovative, safe, and centered on people.
