The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Wednesday expressed her administration's commitment to guaranteeing the work undertaken by the Judiciary and its autonomy in order to benefit citizens, "without external influences and in the safeguard of fundamental rights."

"I wish to reaffirm my Government's commitment to continue contributing to the strengthening of the Judiciary in its task of ensuring inclusive and reliable justice at the full service of citizens," she stated.

During her speech, the top official expressed her "absolute respect for the separation and independence of powers" as these are "fundamental pillars of democracy."

Similarly, the Head of State underscored the work carried out by judges and officials from this Peruvian State branch.

"Preserving the autonomy of the Judiciary is essential to ensure impartial justice, without any external influences, and in the safeguard of the fundamental rights of all Peruvians," she underlined.

Granted resources

The president stressed that, to strengthen the work of this institution, the budget allocated this year totals S/3.646 billion (about US$984 million). Said amount denotes an increase worth S/244 million (about US$66 million) compared to 2023.

The resources granted for the processing of family trials and labor rights have also been increased, said Mrs. Boluarte, who also highlighted the support provided by the central government for the implementation of flagrante delicto units.

This translates into S/111 million (about US$30 million) transferred by the central government to implement facilities of this type in Sullana (Piura region), San Juan de Lurigancho and San Martin de Porres (Lima) —districts declared in emergency due to insecurity and crime.

For this year, an additional S/114 million (about US$31 million) has been budgeted to implement more flagrante delicto units, Mrs. Boluarte noted.

"My administration renews its commitment to work tirelessly for a Judiciary that meets everyone's expectations," she emphasized.
