Peru President deems as interesting Congress candidates debate

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday affirmed that it was interesting to hear proposals geared towards improving the functioning of Congress, at the first debate of candidates running for lawmakers, which was held in Lima two days ago.

Within this framework, the Head of State insisted on the call for citizens to vote and elect the best candidates after reviewing what they did before, their skills, and professional performance.

"I do not say whom to vote for, but for the population to elect the best ones," he remarked.

From the Executive —the top official stressed— the greatest effort will be made in order to work hand-in-hand with the new Congress and complete the expected political-judicial reform.

Venezuelan migration

When asked about Venezuelan migration, the President recalled that the visa requirement measure implemented in June 2019 has allowed limiting the entry of Venezuelan citizens into Peruvian territory.

The Head of State said that —as a supportive nation— those who arrive in Peru to contribute and work can be assisted by the Government.

However, those who commit crimes must be applied the full weight of the law and be expelled, especially if they entered the Inca country illegally.
