The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Monday announced that he will convene a meeting with elected regional and municipal authorities at the Government Palace.

In addition, the Head of State reiterated the Executive Branch's willingness to carry out joint actions.

"In my capacity as President of the Republic, I congratulate district councilors, mayors, regional councilors, and governors, in whom the people have placed their trust," he stated.

Remarks were made in Bagua Grande, a city located in Amazonas region, where Mr. Castillo arrived to launch electrification projects.

In his speech, the dignitary warned that if the three levels of government (national, regional and local) do not work together, little or nothing will be achieved in the country.

"The Government is committed to the outgoing and incoming authorities," he said, noting that he hopes the former will work until the last day in office and the latter will meet expectations.

Peru’s top official underscored that mayors and governors are the authorities that are the closest to the population, so they need to center their work on the most urgent needs of their jurisdictions.

"The Government is fully willing to work together. The population does not eat speeches, it does not feed on ideologies or criticism, people need to have money in their pocket," he added.
