Peru: President Castillo tests negative for COVID-19

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Wednesday reported that he tested negative for coronavirus, after being administered a molecular test.

Via Twitter, the Head of State indicated that he is redoubling biosafety measures given the increase in COVID-19 cases.

"I call on you not to lower the guard, take care of your health, that of your relatives and your entourage," Mr. Castillo expressed.

Ministers Hernando Cevallos (Health) and Juan Carrasco (Defense) tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing the corresponding coronavirus tests, their sectors reported on Tuesday.

Both officials are in self-isolation and work remotely.

Previously, Ministers Oscar Maurtua (Foreign Affairs) and Pedro Francke (Economy-Finance) tested positive for COVID-19.
