Peru: President Castillo expresses support for National Police

12:07 | Lima, Oct. 15.

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday expressed support for the members of the National Police of Peru (PNP), noting that permanent training of the country's law enforcement agents is a commitment of the Government.

"The permanent training of police staff through top-notch programs like the ones we are closing today demonstrates the professionalism of participants and ensures an efficient service to citizens," he emphasized.

Mr. Castillo's remarks were delivered at the closing ceremony of the 92nd and 93rd police training programs on protection and safety.

After participating in a series of drills carried out at a shooting club in Lima's Rimac district, the President addressed the graduated police officers to offer them his full support.

In addition, he affirmed that public safety in the country depends on the responsibilities of the authorities in charge, starting with the Head of State.

The country's top official remarked that this training program was implemented in collaboration with friendly nations, since instructors were trained by agents of intelligence agencies in the United States and Israel.

"I take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the representatives of the Embassies of the United States and Israel. Your support has allowed Peruvian police officers to stay updated on new techniques and tactics ensuring protection and safety of personalities," he pointed out.
