The Amazon Regional Summit seeks to gather opinions and suggestions of agricultural and productive organizations in order to strengthen the Second Agrarian Reform and promote changes that truly occur in the countryside.
The activity will feature Agrarian Development and Irrigation Minister Victor Maita, agrarian and native organizations, as well as local and regional authorities.
The Second Agrarian Reform is a government policy that seeks to improve the services provided by state entities comprising the agrarian sector so as to meet the demands of family farming producers.
The aim is to revalue their contribution to the country's food and nutrition security and its economic development.
According to the 2012 National Farming Census, family farming represents 97% of the total 2.2 million farming units in the country, which supply 80% of the food consumed by Peruvians.
