The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday launched the Massive Titling Plan, which this year alone has as goal the formalization of more than 100,000 properties nationwide. This measure will provide legal certainty and opportunities for development to beneficiary families.

Mr. Castillo participated in the symbolic delivery of 3,567 property title deeds in the capital city's Puente Piedra district to Peruvian citizens from Lima Metropolitan Area and Callao region.

Within this framework, the Head of State stressed that the plan will allow these families to access loans, make improvements to their property, bequeath it to their children and, above all, use it as instrument to leave poverty behind and thus improve their living conditions.

"The object is to turn Peru into a country of honest owners and workers. It is not possible for a couple to be granted a property title deed once the years have passed; this title would have served to boost the development of their family, start a company, and move forward," Mr. Castillo expressed.

The top official specified that the delivery of property title deeds is not only a responsibility of the Government towards Peruvians, but an act of justice and recognition of a constitutional right which, for many years, had been demanded through mobilizations on the streets.

"It is a responsibility of the State to grant you the title, but also to ensure decent housing, relying on services such as drinking water and energy. From here, Mr. Mayor (of Puente Piedra district), today I tell you that the Housing minister will receive you in his office, so that you can attend to people's needs," he noted.

The President said his administration is also committed to resolving the situation of "abusive tolls" and the public works stalled, as authorities and companies in charge of their execution had committed corrupt acts.

Mr. Castillo urged mayors to transparently execute the full amount of public budgets allocated for public works, given that his administration will make the construction of new schools and hospitals for Peruvians a reality.

Moreover, the Head of State explained that of the 3,567 property title deeds symbolically handed over this morning, 3,190 correspond to homes and 377 to urban facilities, such as police stations, educational institutions, and the Municipality of Puente Piedra.

As a whole, more than 14,000 residents of Lima and Callao will benefit from this measure.
