Peru President: 2020 will mark start of long-delayed development

13:29 | Lima, Dec. 12.

President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday affirmed that the year 2020 will mark the start of a long-delayed development and that Peru is moving forward, noting the growth curve is positive.

The Head of State considered that the goals set for 2020 will be possible depending on the work coordinated with each regional government regarding the priority projects to be executed.

After recalling that he had served as Moquegua Region Governor (2011-2014), the top official expressed his commitment to regional authorities with the purpose of executing the pending development projects, thus improving citizens' quality of life.

"2020 will be the beginning of a development that has been long delayed for various reasons, but now with the budget, the list of projects, and the shared will, I'm sure that we will have excellent results," he emphasized.

In this sense, the statesman pointed out it is time to add more works into the National Infrastructure Plan aimed at closing social gaps in the country.

Those additions, he said, must be based on the coordinated efforts undertaken by his administration and regional governments.

The President also affirmed that he sees the future with optimism.

"I see a willingness to want to do things in each region; there is an order of ideas for priorities, which will allow us to articulate the actions necessary to work together," he concluded.

Remarks were made during his participation in the 12th GORE-Executive meeting held in the capital city of Lima. It must be noted these events are aimed to spur actions that will encourage further development in the nation.
