Peru presents actions to end violence against women at UN session

Peru's Women and Vulnerable Populations Minister Ana Maria Choquehuanca is in New York City to participate in the 62nd session of the United Nations' Commission on the Status of Women (CSW62).

The event's aim is to discuss challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality, as well as the empowerment of rural women and girls.

Likewise, the session will address participation and access of women to the media, as well as its impact on and use as an instrument for the advancement and empowerment of women.

Choquehuanca will describe strategies of care for women victims of violence implemented at women's emergency centers, hospitals, and police stations all over the country, among other actions.

Also, she will place emphasis on violence prevention through a change in socio-cultural patterns that generate unequal relationships. 

Women and Vulnerable Populations Ministry's main services include educational initiatives to promote equal relationships and community interventions with the participation of community leaders.
