Peru PM to attend UN Climate Action Summit 2019

10:34 | Lima, Sep. 17.

The Peruvian Government has authorized Prime Minister Salvador del Solar's trip to New York (U.S.), where he will attend the United Nations' (UN) Climate Action Summit 2019.

The high-ranking official will be overseas from September 22-24.

Defense Minister Jorge Moscoso will take over the cabinet chief's portfolio during his absence.

In this sense, the Summit will gather governments, the private sector, civil society, authorities, and other organizations in order to develop solutions in six key areas: Energy Transition, Cities and Local Action, Nature-Based Solutions, Resilience and Adaptation, Finance, and Industry Transition.

According to the supreme resolution, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) is responsible for the coordination of the Executive Branch's national and sectorial policies.

For that reason, it is of institutional interest to authorize the Prime Minister's trip to New York.
