Peru's Prime Minister Anibal Torres has been leading meetings to coordinate aspects of the National Agreement session scheduled for Saturday, March 26.

The aforementioned session was convened by the President of the Republic Pedro Castillo last Saturday so as to reach consensus to meet the most urgent needs, as well as to bring stability and governance to the country.

On Tuesday, the Cabinet chief met with National Agreement Executive-Secretary Max Hernandez and representatives of various member sectors.

At the meeting, Torres mentioned that Saturday session responds to the need to encourage dialogue to solve the country's main problems, in which all sectors must participate.

"Everything we hear will provide guidance to the Government (...). We have not shown signs that we are against the social market economy," he remarked after receiving the support of participants.

The head of the Ministerial Cabinet stressed the importance of dialogue to achieve political, social, and economic stability for the benefit of ordinary citizens, who have been deeply affected by the pandemic and the economic problems it caused.

The meeting saw the participation of Eduardo Concha and Victor Arroyo, from the National Evangelical Council of Peru (CONEP); Juan Jose Gorriti, from the General Confederation of Workers of Peru (CGTP); Oscar Caipo, the head of Confiep; and Monsignor Norberto Strotmann, from the Peruvian Episcopal Conference.

Also attending the meeting were Alejandro Laos, from the Roundtable for the Fight against Poverty; Climaco Cardenas, from the National Convention of Peruvian Agriculture; and Ricardo Marquez, the head of the National Society of Industries.

Torres also received representatives of political parties Avanza Pais and Partido Morado, to whom he reiterated the Executive Branch's openness and interest in reaching consensus to enact rules and laws in favor of all Peruvians.

As is known, the National Agreement Forum is the tripartite space for dialogue and consensus building, made up of the Government at its three levels (national, regional, and local); political parties with representation at Congress of the Republic; and civil society organizations.
