Peru PM: Bicentennial, opportunity to leave a legacy of values

10:00 | Lima, Jan. 18.

Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos said that Peru's Independence Bicentennial is the opportunity to show greater commitment to the country that we want to build.

His remarks were made at the Third National Congress of Peruvian Professionals (Conaprof 2020).

"The Bicentennial is not a simple ephemeris. In addition to the historical circumstances, we can take a decisive step to leave a legacy of values. Peruvians require our commitment and loyalty to build the country that we want, through consensus that can be reached by everyone," he expressed.

The Head of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) stated that the Government is promoting an infrastructure package for the benefit of the population, on the occasion of the Bicentennial.

Moreover, he placed emphasis on the teaching of historical events and, above all, on the transmission of values such as honesty, transparency, and integrity.

On the other hand, Zeballos stressed how important it is —for decision making— the opinion of professional associations in the fields of their competence.

"It is not just another opinion. We are talking about specialized and responsible corporations," he explained.

Furthermore, the Cabinet chief highlighted the need to promote suitability in professional associations, in order to avoid comments and adjectives that may generalize responsibilities.
