Peru: Pisco exports up 23% thru July 2019

11:02 | Lima, Sep. 13.

Pisco exports experience a recovery process, totaling more than US$3.599 million between January and July this year, a 23% increase compared to the same period a year earlier, privately-run Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) reported on Friday.

Carmen de Moquillaza, Vice-President of the Adex Pisco Committee, explained that the improved performance is the result of the recovery in U.S. demand, to the point that it accounted for almost 44% of shipments during the analysis period.

"Pisco producers keep working to diversify our markets. We will participate at Pisco Hall of Expoalimentaria Fair, in a few weeks, where we expect to meet new buyers. We have a high-quality distillate and we must place particular emphasis on its promotion," she said.

Brands on display

Pisco Hall will include a bar to display all the participating brands. Cocktails will be prepared to show the different uses (mixology) of the Peruvian national drink, with the help of renowned bartender Paul Berrospi.

Native inputs like maca, passion fruit, aguaymanto, kiwi, camu camu, and aromatic herbs will be used in the preparations.

Participating companies include Agricola Viña Vieja Viña Sta. Isabel, Bodegas Vista Alegre, Bodegas y Viñedos Grimaldi, Bodega Wilfredo Bohorquez, Piscos D' La Cruz, Destileria La Caravedo, Fool's Gold Terroir, Grupo Moquillaza, Pisco 4 Fundos, Peruvian Kosher Food & Drinks, Pisco Rinconada, Viña Familia Urbina, Viña Los Reyes, and Virtuoso Pisco y Boutique.
