More than 40 renowned master chocolatiers and pastry chefs from Austria, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and the United States will be some of the highlights at the coming 8th Cacao and Chocolate Salon 2017.
Once again, the best of Peru's cacao
and chocolate offer arrives at Lima Convention Center (Miraflores district), this time on July 6-9.
Andy Vorbusch, Dan Watje, Susumu Koyama, Jan Schubert, David Menkes, Tom Hanlon-Wilde and Elfi Maldonado are some of the big names in the industry who will promote the many virtues of Peruvian cacao.
In addition to "choco-demos" (live chocolate-pastry master classes), the experts will be sharing their experience and expertise as speakers and panel members at the event's master conferences and a business round.
U.S. INTL FCStone LLC Senior Vice-President Albert Scalla, for instance, will give a conference on cacao prices, market trends and tools for cacao exporters.
Elfi Maldonado and David Menkes, the masterminds who turned northern Piura and Amazonian Ucayali regions' cacao into award-winning chocolate bars, are also part of the program.
Also noteworthy is the presence of importer Tom Hanlon-Wilde, whose Canadian companies buy more than 800 tons of cacao every year, especially from Peruvian small-scale producers
This year's Cacao and Chocolate Salon
will feature more than 120 stands showcasing the entire array of products based on Peruvian cacao.
The 4-day event expects to receive over 20,000 visitors.
The event's organizing committee includes Peru's Ministries of Agriculture and Irrigation, Foreign Trade and Tourism, Production, as well as Foreign Affairs.
State-run National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (DEVIDA), Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru), Peruvian Association of Cacao Producers (Appcacao), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) are also part of the initiative.
