Representatives of the Peruvian State and the
Department of Sustainable Democracy and Special Missions at the Organization of American States (OAS) held a first working meeting to determine the next activities and projects to be included in an annual work program to strengthen the efforts of Peru in the fight against corruption.
He also stressed the regulatory strengthening of strategic coordination platforms, such as the Regional Anticorruption Commissions, as well as initiatives related to the management of corruption complaints, transparency in the management of interests, among others.
For her part, Maria Mellenkamp, officer in charge of the Department of Sustainable Democracy and Special Missions at the OAS, recognized the actions that Peru has taken so far to combat corruption.
Mellenkamp also expressed OAS experts' willingness to support future actions and measures that may be prioritized in this regard by the country, especially those related to the prevention of acts of corruption.
On the other hand, the Chairman of the High-Level Anti-Corruption Commission (CAN) and President of the National Board of Justice (JNJ), Jose Avila Herrera, highlighted the importance of Peru's participation in international forums such as the OAS.
Avila affirmed that they (international forums) adequately complement the technical work undertaken in Peru with experience in the implementation of high standards in the fight against corruption.
Representatives from the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Representation of Peru to the Organization of American States (OAS) were also present in the meeting.
