Peru: Non-traditional exports up 4.3% in last 12-month period

Peruvian non-traditional exports expanded 4.3% in the last 12 months —thru June 2019—, the second-highest increase among the main countries of the region, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported Tuesday.

In the first half of this year, non-traditional exports totaled US$6.426 billion, a 0.7% increase compared to the same period in 2018.

This result was underpinned by a greater exported volume (5.4%), mainly of farming and fishing products.

Shipments of fresh avocados (11.2%), giant squid (3.5%), grapes (18.6%), calcium phosphate (8.1%), and blueberries (70%), among other products, registered higher sales between January and June 2019.
