10:00 | Lima, Jan. 17.

Last night, the Peruvian Government promulgated Supreme Decree No. 005-2022-PCM, which establishes the new restrictive measures that will govern from January 17 to 30, given the increase in COVID-19 cases across the country as a result of the Omicron variant.

In this sense, the number of provinces facing these restrictions has expanded from 24 to 43, including Lima and Callao, but at the same time curfew hours have been reduced.

The night curfew in Lima, Callao, and provinces at high alert level will no longer start at 11 p.m., as has been the case so far, but will run from midnight to 4 a.m. from Monday to Sunday.

The curfew has been reduced by one hour so that businesses can continue on and to allow time for locals to return to their homes.

Precisely, the 43 provinces included in the list of provinces at high alert level are: Arequipa, Camana, Islay, Huanuco, Leoncio Prado, Cajamarca, Jaen, Huamanga, Tacna, Jorge Basadre, Ilo, Mariscal Nieto, Ica, Chincha, Pisco, Palpa, Huancayo, Satipo, and Chanchamayo.

The list also includes Tarma, Huaura, Cañete, Barranca, Huaral, Huarochiri, Lima, Callao, Piura, Talara, Paita, Sullana, Sechura, Morropon, Chiclayo, Lambayeque, Ferreñafe, Santa, Huaraz, Cusco, La Convencion, Urubamba, Trujillo, and Pacasmayo.

The rest of the provinces in Peru are at the moderate alert level, which means the night curfew in said areas will run from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m.

It should be pointed out that no province is at the very high or extreme alert levels.
