The
Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) reported today that Peru's reference interest rate, which now stands at 6.50%, is the lowest in the region, compared to the main economies across Latin America.
It should be pointed out that this trend has been visible since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The issuing entity stated that the reference interest rate has declined since September last year due to a drop in inflation in recent months and lower inflation expectations, among other factors.
Likewise, the Central Reserve Bank's real interest rate, which is determined as the difference in the nominal interest rate and 12-month inflation expectations, was reduced to 3.67% in January, being the lowest among the main economies across the region.
