Peru names Ambassadors to European Union and four countries

The Peruvian Government —through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs— has appointed Ambassadors to the European Union and four countries and made the appointments official through various supreme resolutions published on Thursday in the Official Gazette El Peruano.

Within this framework, Peruvian Ambassador to Belgium Luis Chavez Basagoitia has been designated to serve as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to the European Union and to the European Atomic Energy Community.


The appointment was made official via Supreme Resolution 028-2023-RE.

Likewise, through Supreme Resolution 024-2023-RE, Elizabeth Gonzalez Porturas was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to Uruguay.

She had been serving as Consul General of Peru in Madrid, Spain. Her duties in said position were terminated by Supreme Resolution 023-2023-RE, which was also published today.

Hungary, Sweden and Bahrain

On the other hand, Edgard Perez Alvan was named Peruvian Ambassador to Hungary. This is stated in Supreme Resolution 025-2023-RE.

Similarly, Supreme Resolution 026-2023 formalizes the appointment of Miguel Angel Samanez Bendezu as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Sweden.

In this context, the duties of Cristina Ronquillo de Blodom as Ambassador to the aforementioned European country and to Denmark were terminated by Supreme Resolution 022-2023-RE.

On the other hand, via Supreme Resolution 027-2023-RE, Carlos Zapata Lopez was appointed Peruvian Ambassador to Bahrain. The diplomat also serves as Ambassador of Peru to Saudi Arabia.

The aforementioned resolutions were signed by the President of the Republic Dina Boluarte and Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi.
