Several tourist attractions in Peru's rainforest Moyobamba Province have received the
Safe Travels Stamp —bestowed by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC)— from the Regional Government of San Martin.
The issuance of this stamp certifies that said attractions strictly comply with the biosafety protocols for the reception of visitors in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The above-mentioned attractions include Moyobamba's Main Square (one of its main urban areas), as well as Punta de Tahuishco Viewpoint, Tingana Ecological Reserve, and Orquideas Amazonicas Garden Center, which are magical places under the Alto Mayo Destination.
It should be noted that, in pre-pandemic times, San Martin was the most visited destination in the Amazon and the third-most-visited destination nationwide.
Moreover, Aguilar affirmed that —through San Martin's Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur), headed by Milner Garcia— further actions will be taken to reactivate tourism and support companies providing tourism services (agencies, hotels, and restaurants).
Such actions are intended to ensure compliance with protocols and the sustainability of this internationally recognized stamp.
The ceremony included the participation of Moyobamba Province Mayor Gastelo Huaman, who received the recognition for Punta de Tahuishco Viewpoint and Moyobamba's Main Square.
The event was also attended by Goresam's Economic Development Manager Daniel Vasquez, the head of Dircetur Milner Garcia, and Alto Mayo Destination Management Committee's President Thais Moreno.
Meanwhile, on behalf of Tingana Ecological Reserve and Orquideas Amazonicas Garden Center, their administrators came in to receive the stamp that certifies them as safe for travel.
