Peru's Ministries of Health and Defense, as well as the Municipality of Pachacamac, launched a primary care level campaign to benefit some 300 families in the human settlement of El Mirador,
in Manchay area belonging to Lima's Pachacamac district.
The health campaign's goal was to vaccinate children and seniors against influenza and pneumococcus.
In addition, tuberculosis was diagnosed and treated, anemia was monitored, HIV counseling was provided, hypertension was reviewed, and COVID-19 testing was carried out in the area.
Manchay inhabitants also accessed laboratories and various services including deworming, hemoglobin measurement, ophthalmology, endocrinology, general medicine, as well as nutritional, psychological and family planning counseling.
Deputy Public Health Minister Nancy Zerpa thanked the joint work across the various levels of government, including the participation of the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks (Diris) in Southern Lima and the Female Committee in Support of the Military Family (COFA-FAM).
"This joint work is an example of what to do when helping citizens access key services such as health," she stated.
Moreover, the government official urged the population to change their habits and lifestyle, particularly now during the coronavirus pandemic.
